Difficult to say what the problem could be. There are things you should do to troubleshoot. For example: Are you using Windows7? With Windows7 it does not work properly and it requires you to set the WiFi Card DHCP as automatic and it gets 192.168.2.1 as IP address. If you are on XPP, you should follow this tutorial, then when you connect with your iPod Touch, you have to manually configure the IP address.
