PDF Unlocking – Password Cracking – Removing

PDFUnlockToday I have downloaded a PDF which was not printable, in other word the Print function has been disabled. A quick investigation revealed that this is due to a Admin Password on the PDF File itself while a User Password would have prevent it from opening/viewing.

I was able to open/view the file but not to print it.

If you encounter the same issue, here is the solution:

- Download GhostScript gs853w32.exe here and install it (assuming you are using some Windows)

- Download GhostView gsv49w32.exe here and install it (assuming you are using some Windows)

- Launch GSView 4.9, click OK on the dialogue about Registration and File/Open to load your protected PDF File. Click the Magnifying Glass to reduce the view and then File/Convert. On Device, please choose pdfwrite, on Resolution please choose 600, select All Pages and Variable Page Size on the Drop Down menu. Click OK

- GSView will ask to name the converted file and a path to write it to. Click Save.

- Open the NEW PDF File which will be now printable!

You’ve just removed the Password Protection and Unlocked the PDF

Note that there are some WebBased solutions. I have tried some and none worked
