Flash XBOX360 BenQ VAD6038 with iXtreme 1.61
Last week we wanted to test the XBOX360 iXtreme 1.61 Flash Firmware so we took apart our XBOX with a Philips BenQ VAD6038 Optical Drive and Flashed it and it worked so we will share how we did it.
Since there are a lot of tutorials about it, we prefer to publish a very quick reference guide for the overall process.
Shortly:
1- Took apart XBOX360
2- Power on XBOX360 with its AC Adapter but connect the XBOX360 DVD to a compatible SATA adapter in your PC
3- Install some software and drivers on your Windows PC
4- Put your XBOX360 DVD in Vendor Mode
5- Read its old firmware and save it on your PC
6- Patch the new firwmare and write it on XBOX360 DVD
7- Test XBOX360 DVD with a backup WAVE 4 game
Requirements:
- Windows PC, we have used XPP
- JungleFlasher.pdf PDF Manual for JungleFlasher
- JungleFlasher.0.1.67.Beta.rar Software Tool to read and write Firmwares on XBOX DVD
- ix161-benq.rar iXtreme 1.61 Firmware for BenQ Drives
- SATA Controller compatible with XBOX Drives, recommended is any with Chipset ViaTech VT6421, we have used the InLine 66697A
- Patience
So you should start with opening it, be aware this will voip your warranty, so be carefull and if you don’t feel comfortable with what you’re doing, then stop it!
